2 day Condition-based Maintenance Awareness Techniques

Home / 2 day Condition-based Maintenance Awareness Techniques

Course Introduction and Overview

Condition Monitoring technologies are developing at a rapid rate and a massive range of solutions are available. There are plenty of experts and vendors who know a lot about particular techniques; however, there seem to be too few people who have a good general overview of the range of techniques and technology available.

Some users end up buying solutions that do not give business benefits. Perhaps this is because the benefits were not fully considered (sometimes purchases are driven by people who are keen on the technology but do not address the business case), sometimes the solutions do not provide a technically feasible solution. In other cases the alternatives were not considered.

Buyers need to be in control. They need to consider all options and alternatives. They need to make sure the solutions selected are technically feasible, but also that they are worth doing, in other words that they they add value to the business. They need to know the sorts of questions to ask the experts.

This course is not designed to make people experts in any technique, but to give an overview of the options available and allow them to engage constructively with vendors and suppliers to find the best solutions for themselves.

Aims of the Course

This course will provide you with a thorough introduction and awareness of the many condition-based maintenance techniques and technologies that are available today and the economic advantages of each, so that you are best prepared to engage with vendors to make intelligent and educated purchases to satisfy business needs and objectives.

Learning Objectives

To make delegates more aware of the range of condition based tasks available | To provide the framework for deciding whether such tasks are technically feasible and worth doing | To enable them to ask the right questions of the experts/ vendors in order to apply such techniques effectively and make sound and defensible investment decisions.

Target Audiences

An awareness course designed for personnel who will be responsible for managing and purchasing condition-based maintenance technologies and services for their company. This course will also be useful to upskill your workforce so they understand the range of techniques and technologies available to them in order to maintain assets in the best possible way. It may be useful to include financial managers, controllers and decision makers on this course, so that they can understand the true return on investment that is achievable using condition-based maintenance technologies and services.

Course Duration

2 Days, with an option to add other one day courses, such as the Reliability-centred Maintenance (RCM) overview or Failure Modes and Effects Analysis courses.

Course Cost and Discounts

The cost for this course is £665.00+VAT per delegate. Early Bird, HM Forces, Civil Servant, Group and Individual discounts are available. See our ticketing information HERE for full details.

Methods of Instruction and Delivery

Delivery is face to face and classroom based. Learning points are reinforced by examples. Discussion and engagement are strongly encouraged. Exercises are used at several stages to ensure main points have been understood and assimilated.

A real life case study is included so delegates will have the opportunity to apply what they have learnt throughout the course.  In these exercises delegates have to select appropriate condition based techniques, compare different techniques to determine which is most cost effective, and evaluate the economics of investment decisions.

One of the exercises takes the delegates through the selection and evaluation of condition based maintenance options in an award-winning application of RCM (referenced elsewhere on this website – see Case Studies section). In other words, the examples are real life examples, not hypothetical ones.

The following condition-based techniques are covered in the course:

  • The Human senses
  • Product Quality Monitoring
  • Performance Monitoring
  • Dynamic effects monitoring (including vibration analysis)
  • Particle analysis
  • Chemical analysis
  • Temperature effects monitoring
  • Physical effects monitoring
  • Electrical effects monitoring
